Ubuntu 8.04, Firefox 3 and Large fonts
Ive been playing around with Ubuntu Hardy since it was in alpha and have enjoyed it greatly. When it was finally released I had just changed my laptop. The new laptop, an HP 8510w mobile workstation, supports larger resolutions.
I use 1900×1200 and this created some problems for me. First gnome set the DPI to 146 and everything looked very wrong. Unfortunately I did not think to look at the DPI settings for firefox because I would have been able to resolve this issue much sooner.
For those of you struggling with large fonts in firefox (or just horribly wrong deformation of fonts) look to changing the DPI for firefox to 72 ot 96. To do this open firefox and in the address bar type “about:config” and search for “layout.css.dpi” and set it to 72 or 96.
Thanks to this post for the solution.
